Hub member Peter Meager has been bitten by the Dance bug in recent years, going from two left feet to dancing competitively across Europe. And tonight, he’s helping Hill Dance Academy bring their successful classes in Hackney, south of the river to SE7.
The Equality Dance is a Ballroom & Latin Class for absolute beginners. What’s an Equality Dance? Good question. It means you rotate in partners throughout the class, and your partner may be male or female and you may be leading or following (or both) depending on the dance and the partner. The one constant throughout is that you’ll be dancing!
The venue is Alexandra Hall at 109A Bramshot Avenue and the classes start at 18.30, lasting 1 hour. Courses are usually four week cycles and are a ‘drop in’ format, so you do not need to commit to all the four weeks in advance. If you can’t make a week there is no need to pay just pick up where you left off and return when you wish. The classes cost £7 per person.
This week is week 1 of 4 and the dances will be:
- Ballroom: Waltz
- Latin: Cha Cha Cha
You rotate in partners so there’s no need to come in a pair, but obviously you are welcome, and encouraged, to bring your friends along for fun!
